Happend to me back last march during FF13.... umm, I would just get a slim since... your current ps3 could always be a ticking timebomb, I dont know what kind of "fix" you did, but if you didnt tamper with the warranty seal, you could still send it to sony for a fix... or they offer a trade up program and will sell a slim to you for like 200$+ your broken ps3.

If I recall, to get it refurbished by sony. its roughtly 150$ + shipping.
